Welcome to Sudet JP English Football School. Hosted by Rob Mitchell, an English football coach with both playing and coaching experience. This excellent opportunity will help both new and current players to improve English language and football skills together. This exclusive six week course will allow players to experience six principal areas of the game. Each week will focus on a specific skill to enhance player development.
ROB MITCHELL
My football career began when I was 6 years old, playing for local hobby groups in the Manchester area. After quick development, I wanted to play at a competitive level, playing for several amateur youth teams. When I was 18 years old, studying at college, I played for Grantham Town U18, whose first team played in level 6. Before I went to university to study Business Management, I was lucky to be given a chance to train and play with Boston United Reserves whose first team play in level 6. Whilst at university, I focused my free time to football coaching local teams in the Southampton area. After I graduated from university, my aspiration was to move abroad to help coach youth academies. So, here I am now, in fantastic Finland!
Since I have been coaching and playing for Sudet JP, I have noticed a big difference in style of football play between the England and Finland football leagues. The main difference is that almost every divison in Finland play technical football, whereas in England, mostly only the Premier League teams play technical football. The rest of the English football divisions play very physical football, where strength and stamina are important factors.
One of my aspirations for hosting an English Football School is to help benefit the players with both football and English language development. The course will cover basic football terms and will help develop player relationships and their confidence both on and off the football field. Since my arrival in July last year, my Finnish language and my confidence to use it has improved quickly. This is the result of working with players and coaches at Sudet and by also immersing myself in the Finnish Culture.
